Lacing Up-2021

It started innocently enough--lace up pants would be fun for the ren faire--but let's push it a little further--can I slash it apart and put two lines of lacing? Can they go all the way up, with no waistband? And then I pushed it even more--can I make a garment that laced all the way up the center back and center front?
